“St. Stephen’s is a great place for kids!”
We pray every Sunday that the children of our parish would grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord. We offer many programs, activities, and resources to help that happen.
Acolytes serve at the altar during our 9 a.m. Traditional Service, allowing children and teens the opportunity to serve the Lord and the congregation through Holy work.
Preschool through 5th grade Sunday School meets from 10:15 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. each Sunday morning. We use a fun and educational curriculum that teaches the Bible both in class, and with take-home material to grow their faith with the family.
Children’s Church is held during the 11:00 a.m. Sunday morning Contemporary Service. It consists of a worship service geared to Pre-K through elementary age children. A Bible story from Fr. David is combined with singing, fun, and crafts that reinforce the day’s liturgy and Scripture Readings at an age-appropriate level.
The Nursery is also available for babies and toddlers during the 11 a.m. Sunday morning Contemporary Service. There is a live video feed of the service available in the nursery for any parents who may need the use of a temporary cry room.
In between these activities you can usually find our kids out at the Coolest Church Playground in Town! With multiple forts, slides, and swingsets, children have a safe and fun place to play any time. There’s also basketball, four square, tetherball, a volleyball court, and a soccer field next to the playground. We also feature one of the only local Ga-Ga pits, where you can play Octoball–the funnest and fastest game for kids of all ages.
Kids as young as 5 are welcome to join our Children’s Tang Soo Do martial arts class, where Fr. David teaches discipline, skill, and virtue in order to build better people, inside and out.
Vacation Bible School here is nothing short of AMAZING. We meet every night for a week, typically near the end of June. With incredible sets, themed crafts, snacks, and games, learning the Bible has never been so great! Totally free and totally awesome.
Boys from 1st through 5th grade are welcomed to join us for Cub Scouts. Pack 106, a large, well established Pack, is a ministry of our parish. Trained leaders help the boys grow in skill and fun Monday nights from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. each week. Families camp together almost every month, while the boys test their skills with activities like hiking, cooking, fire building, the Rain Gutter Regatta, Cardboard Boat Race, and the Pine Wood Derby.
